Tour of Northern Italy

Italianità – Off to the South

Tour of Northern Italy. Travel to other countries is possible again on a limited basis. Now we are also ready for an adventure towards the south. The sun and the sea tempt to a round trip. In cities, where usually thousands of tourists cavort, we had to share the squares, alleys and restaurants with few tourists. One reason was certainly that we were still on the road before the summer vacations.

Tour of Northern Italy – Milan

Finally, the streets are busier again and people are looking forward to having a coffee in the pedestrian zones. Life in the cities is ramping up again. Elegantly dressed women and men are in a shopping mood. We treated ourselves to an Aperol Spritz on a rooftop terrace. There was a light breeze. Simply wonderful! An absolute must for all Milan travelers is a trip to the Starbucks. This one in Milan stands out from all the other establishments. Just having the coffee roastery integrated into the restaurant is very impressive. The atmosphere in the gigantic space and the selection of coffee drinks as well as sweets is overwhelming. Is there an explainable reason why vacation days pass by so quickly?

Peschiera del Garda

Strolling through Peschiera del Garda

Peschiera del Garda

Peschiera del Garda is a small fishing village on Lake Garda. Vacation atmosphere is the order of the day here. The restaurants are lined up along the water. If you have a choice, you are spoiled for choice. Like everywhere in Italy, most boutiques and grocery stores close as early as 12:30 p.m. and don’t open again until 4:30 p.m.. Too bad, because the one or the other blouse I found beautiful and could admire them so only in the shop window.

Tour of Northern Italy – Murano and Burano

We only touched on Venice and took the vaporetto directly to Murano. The island is famous for the glass works. The next destination was Burano, from my point of view this is the more beautiful island. Here the focus is on embroidery craftsmanship. There are napkins, tablecloths, dresses, scarves and also bags with all kinds of embroidery for sale. However, the island captivates with its colorful houses. Colorful and romantic shows this place, so just right for a nice snapshot.

Tour of Northern Italy - Bassano del Grappa

Tour of Northern Italy – Bassano del Grappa

Bassano del Grappa is very popular with tourists. An old wooden bridge spans the river Brenta. From there you can see the old town. Strolling through the alleys with the old buildings also arouses curiosity, what might be hidden behind them? The facades are mysterious, but it is a pity that we could not visit the houses.

Parco Sigurtà

Tour of Northern Italy – Parco Giardino Sigurtà

Along country roads you can reach the beautiful park, which was created in the 14th century. From 1941 the Sigurtà family took over the park and over the years made it shine. It is a popular destination for excursions in the Lake Garda area. Families take a picnic and enjoy it on the inviting meadows. The spacious area can be explored on foot, by golf cart, e-bike or even by train. There are also several small restaurants scattered around the grounds. Picnic or have a snack in the restaurant, a difficult question, especially since there are many cozy spots under the trees. We opted for a picnic, so plan this in advance.

Bergamo
Bergamo - Città Alta

Tour of Northern Italy – Bergamo

Last stage of our journey. The city northeast of Milan is not to be underestimated, because it invites to stroll. The Città Alta is reached by funicular. If you take the funicular to San Vigilio, you can see Città Alta from over there. From the Pizzeria San Vigilio we had a great view of the city. Especially at dusk it is very romantic, so you should reserve a table with a view of the valley.

Too bad the vacations are already over, because from my point of view, the vacations could have lasted a little longer. We will be back! Completely contrary to our weather, Italy captivates with a sun guarantee. On the round trip it rained lightly only once overnight.
