Wonderful winter landscape in Val Roseg
Horse carriage ride in Val Roseg. It could not be more romantic. For early risers the Val Roseg is a dream. To the left and to the right the mountains line up, a path leads through the snow-covered valley. Parallel to the hiking trail, cross-country ski trails lead to the same destination: a snack at the Roseg Glacier restaurant. For me, it’s clear. The next trip I will spend here with the cross-country skis.
At exposed places, various feeding mangers for birds and squirrels are set up. The visitor can observe them better this way. The birds are hand-tame. Of course, only if you spread some grains on the palm of your hand. The animals are clever, because they know exactly where to get the food.
Lunch or coffee and cake after the hike
In Val Roseg there is a restaurant where you can get something to eat after the walk. Since many cross-country skiers and hikers have lunch there, it is advisable to make a reservation. The hike from Pontresina to the restaurant takes about 1.5 hours.
Horse carriage rides in Val Roseg
The carriage rides are popular. Especially in winter this is super romantic. There is the carriage ride and the private carriage rides. The difference is the price and the number of people in the carriage. Depending on the occasion, both options are great. On the plowed path it is not always easy when two carriages cross each other, so the guides are connected by cell phone. This allows them too slow down the ride a bit so that an evasive maneuver can be made at the designated spots. I treated myself to a ride. Was that wonderful!
If you like the snow, love hiking or cross-country skiing, Val Roseg is the place for you. Personally, I like early morning because you have the trails to yourself. Just before lunch and in the afternoon there are many walkers, because then you can enjoy the sun all along the path. In the morning, part of the path is still in the shade, but the snow crunches under your shoes and you have the moment to yourself.
