Küsnacht ravine – Hiking
Walk in the Küsnacht ravine. The Küsnacht ravine was formed about 16000 years ago, when the Linth glacier retreated from the Lake Zurich basin, it says on the plaque. I find that very impressive.
Natural shade and pleasant temperature
Since the sun is burning today and the temperature is around 30 degrees, a walk in the Küsnacht ravine is just right. Starting point is the train station Forch. From there, just before the village, a hiking trail turns off to the right in the direction of Küsnacht. We follow it. We reach the ravine via a staircase. From here the path winds between trees and bridges along the ravine. The natural shade of the trees is ideal when the sun is burning.
Fireplaces and rest areas
On the way there are several resting places with fireplaces. Some of them are located by the stream, so children like to bathe there. Some fireplaces also have shelters in case it rains. Therefore, the Küsnacht ravine is a popular excursion spot for school groups. There are boards at various places that illustrate the nature of the ravine. Thus, interested hikers can read about the history of the formation of the Küsnacht ravine. Since there is no restaurant in the immediate vicinity, I recommend taking along drinks and a snack, especially if there are children with you.
Küsnacht, ship landing stage
In Küsnacht there is a landing stage for scheduled boats. So it is also possible to take a boat to Zurich or to the other side of the lake. From the ship we admire the beautiful villas on the lake. I love the lake, a round trip by ship gives a feeling of vacation. In addition, it is pleasant, because there is always a light breeze blowing.
Lido Küsnacht Sträme
Too bad I didn’t pack my bathing suit. A jump in the lake, would have been just right today. When the temperatures show towards 30 degrees, the lake really cools down. Also from the landing stage Küsnacht Heslibach, where the lido is located, the ship goes back to Zurich.
During the summer vacations one could test all bathing establishments. Around the lake of Zurich there are many beautiful spots. On the OllO World website (see below) you can find some great lidos and swimming pools, which or team or users like. Search with the keywords, swimming or bath.
