Early in the morning at 3:30 am the first train leaves from Thalwil to Lucerne. The special train has been specially put in between for the carnival, the so-called ‘Fasnächtlerzug’! Wow, the closer you get to Lucerne, the more people get on. All passengers are dressed up. Next to me are nuns dressed like in the horror movie of the same name, people with green and blue hair and colorful robes, women with pink rompers, street workers in orange dungarees, policemen with handcuffs and many other themes can be seen. My camera is in continuous use. The OllO World Pin is already set.

Day watch at 5:00 am, the carnival is open

As soon as they arrive, the visitors meander towards the lake. I was lucky and got a perfect spot with a good view of the ship. The day watch is opened with a loud firecracker shot at 5 a.m. As soon as the firecracker ship arrives at Schweizerhofquai, the first ‘Guggen’ come and pass the waiting spectators. What a bustle. Now the Fasnacht is opened. For photo fans the ‘Guggen’ (dressed-up people) are a real eye-catcher, the OllO World Team agrees.
