A visit to the Open Air Museum Ballenberg<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Open-Air Museum Ballenberg. The Open-Air Museum Ballenberg was opened in 1978 with 16 buildings. Today their number has grown to over 100 houses. Years ago I visited the open-air museum once. This year, while planning trips, I came across it again. In the museum we can forget the time and dive into the past. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Hairdresser, cheese dairy and a loom<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

All the historic houses have been lovingly rebuilt true to the original. There you can visit small jewels from different cantons. In the cheese dairy we can watch the cheese being made and even buy a souvenir. In the weaving mill, a woman turns old tea towels into strips and then she wove them into a carpet. Recycling was an issue even back then, although the motivation was different. Cutting hair or braiding it into magnificent hairstyles was appreciated by women and men, even in the past. Even though the hoods and curling irons looked rather scary. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Culinary catering<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

In the inns you can taste and eat specialties from various Swiss regions. Those who prefer picnics will always find benches and secluded spots for a break. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Carriage rides<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

The grounds are large. Those who prefer to be chauffeured can be driven through the grounds in a horse-drawn carriage. We enjoyed the short walks through the different Swiss regions. That was a nice journey.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n
