Winter Hike Männlichen

Winter hike Männlichen. The arrival terminal in Grindelwald is efficiently organized. Pulling a ticket, like at a post office counter is a bit disconcerting, but this way there is no more pushing. So a day ticket can be solved in a relaxed way. The terminal forms a V. One line leads to Männlichen and the other to the Eiger glacier. In 15 minutes you can be on the top of the slope with the express train. Not bad, we think.

Cable car on the Männlichen

Unfortunately, the cable car stopped several times on this day. We spent about 50 minutes in the gondola. That’s a long time considering we traveled from Zurich for a day trip. As compensation, we got a voucher for a meal and a drink. Something after all.

Royal Walk

From the Männlichen station, continue to the right in the direction of the Royal Walk. The viewing platform is reached in 20-30 minutes. From up there you have a wonderful panoramic view of the Jungfrau region. Unfortunately, it was slippery and icy during our ascent. Therefore I recommend to pack shoes and walking sticks.

Hike to Holenstein

After a short refreshment we tackled the hiking trail to Holenstein to the middle station. Partly this leads on the toboggan run and between skiers down into the valley. Also, the path was relatively slippery and trampled by the runners of the sleds. On this trail you are better off with a sled. On a next trip I will definitely rent a sled and continue to Grindelwald.

Spring shows itself in the lower regions. The snow is melting away. Soon I will return and look forward to the coming spring walks through the flower meadows.
