Around the Lungern lake
Round hike Lungern lake. The last days it was oppressively hot, so I fled to the heights. Unfortunately, the weather app was also a bit fickle, so I decided to go for a 2-3 hour hike. The choice fell on the Lungern lake. The round trip takes about 2 hours 30 minutes. Thunderstorm is announced in the afternoon. So that I could enjoy the tour without rain, I started early in the morning. Wow, besides early swimmers, fishermen and a few hikers I had the circuit practically for myself.
Travel by train to the Lungern lake
Already the approach from Lucerne in the train towards Interlaken is unique. I pass the lake Root, Sarner lake and now along the Lungern lake, my final destination. The water in the lake Lungern shimmered deep blue through the trees. Lungern station is slightly elevated, so I have to walk through the village to the lake.
Starting point Lungern
Arriving at the shore, the water is even more intense than I perceived it from the train. Around the lake, mountains and meadows line the shore. The meadows are just being mowed by the farmers. The lake is calm and the fishing boats glide slowly on the water. The weather doesn’t quite know what it wants today. However, it says rain in the weather app and I hope that I will still create the round hike before the thunderstorm. For photographers, however, the intense cloud play is just right. The reflection of the mountains in the lake is fascinating. I am not alone on a photo tour. Two other hikers are also on the way, packed with backpacks and photo equipment.
Fireplaces and resting places
Around the lake there are fire and resting places. Even firewood is available. Some of them also have toilets. It all looks cozy and well-kept. In Bürglen there is a small bathing place where you can cool off. This is kept up and running by volunteers from the community. You pay into a cash box. Very sympathetic, I think. For families with children, I recommend the baths in Lungern. There is a large slide, which leads in the form of a spiral into the lake. There is also a nice playground and a miniature golf course in the immediate vicinity.
Restaurants & Catering
Restaurants, on the other hand, make themselves scarce. The one in Kaiserstuhl is not open every day. Therefore, I recommend to take sandwiches and especially drinks with you. The only highlight is the restaurant at the campground in Lungern. Reliably open! The coffee and croissants were delicious even if I enjoyed this breakfast for lunch.
Tour around the Lungern lake
I had the path practically to myself. About 3/4 of the way I could walk along the lake. Unfortunately, a part of the way led parallel to the road. From Kaiserstuhl via Bürglen to Lungern again, was a gravel road, where from time to time a car came towards me. This is an access road for the residential houses. If you are looking for rest and relaxation, this is the right place. The circular path is easy to walk and benches invite you to linger. Everywhere it smells of forest, flowers or hay. A wonderful breeze in the air. The circular trail is only partially suitable for baby carriages.
Mountain railroad from Lungern to Turren
In the village near the camping site is the valley station of the Lungern – Turren cable car. Various hiking routes start from here.
