Sheep conquer Zermatt

Black noses in Zermatt. The black-nosed sheep are an attraction. On our excursion we meet them on the pasture near the Gornergrat train under the bridge. A little further down at the chapel on the Riffelberg station another sheep are stationed. The idea with the sheep attracts young and old and motivates to a hike.

Meet the Sheep

Zermatt has an additional attraction besides the Matterhorn. The leading animals of the black-nosed sheep have a tracker and can be searched for by the visitors on a path. Mirror, mirror on the wall, who is the most beautiful sheep in the whole country? At first glance they all look the same, but look closer and you will find many differences. We can’t decide on one and find them all lovely.

Photo shoot with the animals wants to be practiced. We were in the right place at the right time this time. Four sheep have separated from the herd and posed directly in front of the Matterhorn. Cheese! This is one of the best photos, we took today, we think.

The Matterhorn

The ride in the Gornergrat train is unique. This shows us the Matterhorn from its most impressive side. A tourist next to me was filming continuously, the others almost couldn’t get out of their amazement. Yes, even we got goose bumps, because the Matterhorn is totally impressive. On Sunday we were really lucky, also the pictures with the lake in the foreground and the reflection of the mountains in the water could not be more beautiful.

Picnic

To enjoy the beautiful view, we packed a lunch. So we could sit down in the middle of the mountains and admire the view here as well. Although, the alpine jackdaws recognized us as tourists and also saw that we were eating something. Boldly they sneaked up to snatch bread crumbs at best. Unbelievable how this gets around among the birds. No sooner were two there, then another four birds flew in. Hitchcock says hello! This was a bit scary for us and so we ended the picnic.

Back in Zermatt, we treated ourselves to an ice cream sundae and a breather before taking the train back to Zurich.
