On foot across Barcelona
Architecture and art in Barcelona. Art lovers and architecture enthusiasts will love the city. Barcelona is a beautiful city with lots to see and do. Here are some suggestions of what we did during our stay:
- Sagrada Familia: The Sagrada Familia is one of the most famous sights in Barcelona and a masterpiece by architect Antoni Gaudí. The church is still unfinished, but a visit is a must. Be sure to book tickets in advance, otherwise you’ll be queuing and losing valuable time.
- Park Güell: Park Güell is another work by Antoni Gaudí and a beautiful city park. Here you can enjoy the impressive architecture and the view of the city. In my opinion, one of the most beautiful parks.
- Las Ramblas: Las Ramblas is a famous street in Barcelona that offers many stores, restaurants and street artists. It is a great place to go for a walk and enjoy the atmosphere of the city. Depending on the day of the week, however, it can be very crowded, so it is worth taking side streets.
- Gothic Quarter: The Gothic Quarter is the historic center of Barcelona and offers many beautiful buildings and narrow streets. Here you can visit the Gothic cathedral and stroll through the streets. The cathedral looks like the little sister of Milan Cathedral.
- Miro Foundation: The Miro Museum is a must for art lovers and displays an extensive collection of works by the famous artist.
- Dining: Barcelona is known for its excellent cuisine and offers many restaurants and cafés. Be sure to try the tapas and paella, the typical dishes of the region.
- Beach: Barcelona also has a beautiful beach where you can relax and enjoy the sun. We really enjoyed the sun by the sea, especially in January. The more daring even ventured into the water.
