Swiss Brown Swiss cattle, the cows show their Sunday costumes
Alpine procession in Heiden. The Alpine procession in Heiden is a traditional festival that takes place every year in autumn. During the festival the shepherds and their animals return from the alps to the valleys. The animals wear elaborate bells around their necks and are sometimes decorated with flowers and ribbons. The procession in Heiden is known for its beautiful decorations and festive atmosphere. The festival attracts many visitors every year who want to experience the traditional Swiss culture.
The Alpine procession also has a promotional character. Now the farmers and alpine dairymen can interact with the people from the city and the surrounding villages. We now have the opportunity to ask them what life is like on the farm. This promotes understanding and gives an interesting aspect to meat and dairy farming.
